June 11-13 Visit to Chatham, Sarnia & Hamilton kids

We decided to visit all our far-away kids for the weekend.  We left at 5 am on Sat. morning and arrived in Chatham around 9:30.  Zach wanted me to see his new bedroom downstairs as soon as we arrived.
Braden & Alanna playing checkers.
Michael & Marcel discussing the renovations that they will do in the bathroom.
Marcel spent a week there and the bathroom looks great.
The outside of the house is also getting a new face lift.
The siding looks great.
One of the first thing the ladies did was check out the dutch store.
Alanna filled up a plastic bag pretty fast.
The gebakjes (pastries) are made in the store. We took some of them to take home also.
Zach with the bag of droppies.
Zach & Alanna jumping off the window sill.
Almost landed on the box of pastries.
Jumping pretty high for a little guy.
I thought she'd hit the ceiling.
Alanna climbing the walls.

Braden definitely beat Alanna.
This family will never wear out their flooring.  The kids spend more time off the floor than on.

Corn on the cob has many functions.
Binoculars and machine guns.
Zach is trying to fly with the help of rhubarb leaves.
Alanna tried the rhubarb.

Not a great success I may add.
Still off the ground.
This time it's Alanna with the help of her dad and Grandpa.
And yet another off the ground stunt.  Zach being swung by his dad.

In the air again.
After supper, we drove to Sarnia.  Only one hour away.
A lovely walk in a quiet neighborhood.
Jeremy on the cutest tricycle.  He loves it.
Adorable with his little helmet.

Sara on her bike.

Leah is pretty proud to be riding her new bike.

Checking out the new tent trailer.
Jeremy ready for bed.
We stayed for the night, and went to church with them the next morning.
After church we drove to Hamilton, and arrived just after lunch.
The kids were super excited to see us, and talked about camping at the Sandbanks in August.
They have a calender to count the days.
It was the first thing we had to see when we arrived.

Micah & Rachel demonstrating ballet.

Jumping must be a Hoogstad thing.
Danielle flying to her grandpa.
Not sure what Micah is doing!

The kids love stories.  Especially the long ones.  Apparently this is the first time they heard this one.
Danielle loving her treat.

There's a reason why we call Rachel 'gigglepuss'.

Micah loves being silly.

Everyone checking out the pictures on Marcel's laptop.
Relatives in Holland.
The kids wanted to go home with us the next morning, and this was as good a time as any.

  2. Beautiful family Alida & Marcel! It's funny but we didn't cringe when our little ones did it, but we do when we see the grandchildren do it!
Like you said, the floors will last a long, long time!
