Aug 5-21 Sandbanks Camping

This year's camping was terrific. We had the hottest weather, which meant the kids were in the water all day. Not too pleasant for the adults at times though. We were also fortunate enough to get 4 sites on the beach. # 24, 26, 30 & 33. Thanks to Renee, who was able to get us 4 sites with one phone call. She's definitely received the dtr-in-law of the year award.

Michael, Doug & Amy.
Taken through the shark blow up toy. Which unfortunately made it in the trash this year.

Rachel looking pretty cool.

Braden writing his name, waiting for the next wave to destroy it. Then he would do it all over again.

Great waves for the bigger kids. Alanna on the ski-do, and Zach just having a good time.

Danielle is pretty brave going in the water with the high waves, but...

as you can see by her face, is not impressed by being chased by them.

Michael and Zachary just chilling.

Braden reading a book to Rachel in our motor home. By the looks of the stack of books, they'll be there awhile.

Aug 8th was Zach's 3rd birthday. Cupcakes enjoyed by everyone.

How many more years will Micah fit into the same swimwear? We'll have to feed him some extra smors...

Some of the kiddies wanted a ride from campsite 24-30. Marcel and I spent 2 days on # 24 before our permanent site #30 opened up.

Kevin teaching Zach to skim board.

Zach getting a ride from a boy playing nearby.

Marcel and Kelly-Lynn

Did not know which one was nicer, so stuck them both in.

Danielle getting a cuddle from grandpa.

Enjoying smors, sparklers and treats by the campfire.
All our meals and campfires were on this site. Very convenient for the 3 families on the adjoining sites, but it made it a little harder for Marc & Renee. They had the most stuff to haul back and forth.

Kelly-Lynn and Danielle sharing Aunt Teresa/Mommy's lap.

Kelly-Lynn almost ready for bed. Or is it Teresa?

Electronic toys....even at camp.

A break for Doug from cooking all the meals. Breakfast on the beach. Thanks to Costco. Even the photographer made it on this one. Thanks Amy.

Wading after breakfast.

Braden loves his new cousin.

Braden is blessing something.

Rachel eating chips and pulling the watering can on the surf board.
Good job Rachel. Multi-tasking.

Herman enjoying his new nephew, or is it second nephew?

Braden looking like a cute grasshopper.

Braden & Sara.
The Sarnia family were the last to arrive. We were still able to spend 3 whole days together as a family. They were also the last to leave. So we spent some time with just them as well.

Jeremy Braden & Sara.

Season, Teresa, Doug & Michael going for an after supper swim trying to cool off. It was unbearably hot at times.

Sara posing in the sunset.

Season enjoying smors.

Zach blowing bubbles. I really noticed the difference in the younger kids between this year and last year's camping. A year older, the kids were able to enjoy & entertain themselves so much better. Playing together went better also, which made it much easier for the parents.

Alanna.

Zach getting an airplane ride on daddy's feet.

Kelly-Lynn took this picture of a dragonfly on Michael's toe. Well done KL.

Erin, Alanna & Sara polishing off a large container of MY blueberries. Later, Season told me that Alanna does not like blueberries. Hmm. Probably the blueberries taste different here??

Renee & Jeremy.

Leah, looking quite professional.

Many amazing sunset pictures.

Such a ham.

Leah & Sara filling up any container they could find in the fire pit and filling it up with sand.

Wearing their South African shirts.

Funny face pose.

  5. Hi Auntie Alida(and Uncle Marcel),

I just looked at the pictures you posted. It was a lot of fun to get a sneak peak into your family experiences this summer. I really like the sunset pictures. The beach at sandbanks is wonderful for young kids. Yes, the weather was a whole lot better this summer and made for better camping for us too. We were at Awenda Prov. Park in Penetang in July and at Fitzroy P.P. near Arnprior (Ottawa area) in August. Now with the weather having cooled off so much and school having started, summer feels like a distant memory.

    Till next time.
