May 20-21, 2012 Hamilton Visit

Sunday morning before church, as we were all sitting outside with our coffee and enjoying the beautiful weather, we saw this gorgeous Canadian Tiger Swallowtail butterfly that just emerged from  it's pupa.
Wings were still wet.  When we got back from church, it was gone.

The larva lives in a nest and securing it with silk. It grows to be up to about 2 inches (5 cm) long. Just before pupating, it sometimes turns brown. Pupa:  The pupa is the stage in a butterfly's (or moth's) life when it is encased in a chrysalis and undergoing metamorphosisAs the body transforms into a butterfly, it neither eats nor drinks. It takes about a month for the adult to develop (from egg to pupa to adult).

Jump on the count of 3.

All airborne.
After lunch the kids all went under the sprinkler.  It wasn't that hot and we were surprised they were under there that long.  Later when we had no hot water, we found out they used warm water in the sprinkler.
                                                                    That explains it!!
Ice cream cones for everyone.  But not for free.  We had to pay for them.
Danielle didn't mind at all to pay (money from grandma) for the treat.
The kids loved taking turns collecting and making cones.

Rachel taking her job quite serious.

Ken and Carla joined us for the fun.

Negotiating a price for the small cones.

Erin's turn to be the sales person.

Always sample what you sell!

Not easy getting the ice cream off the scoop.
Danielle has quite the intense face.

Good job kids.  Auntie Carla is going back for seconds.

Danielle burying Erin in the sand.

Since Kelly-Lynn learned to drive the ATV, there's a small chance she'll be the passenger.

Micah still getting guitar lessons.
At the recital his teacher asked him, "Micah, what will you be playing for us?'
Micah replied "The guitar".
So cute.

Rachel still on the violin.
Danielle's cello lessons were dropped.  A little too young.
