Loading our stuff on the boat. |
Kelly-Lynn & her grandpa running to catch the boat. |
Unloading the boat after crossing Mackie Lake. The first lake. |
Long uphill climb to the next lake. |
Marcel & Brenda waiting for the 2nd crossing |
Crossing Camp Lake. Looks like we're in good hands. |
Loons. |
Hunting cabin from across Reid Lake. |
Arriving with the rest of the supplies. |
Didn't take our faithful swimmers long to decide to go swimming. |
Brenda slipped and replied "OK, I'm in". |
Doesn't matter how cold it is, Immy goes swimming. |
Building a wood shelter. |
Immy enjoying the scenery. |
Across the lake is a log in the water. From the cabin it looks like an alligator. Kelly-Lynn is painting the eye of the alligotor. |
Alligator. We decided they eye needed more color. Next time. |
Immy & Brian going fishing for a few hours. |
Amazing how those two can entertain themselves. |
Putting in a light outside by the back door. |
Returning from fishing. Kelly-Lynn ready to help with docking. |
A beaver chewed it's way through a tree beside the cabin. The guys chopped up the large pieces for firewood, while we burned the small branches. The tree fell on the cabin, but no damage. |
Even though we were pestered by a fine mist off and on, the kids still wanted to go boarding. Kelly-Lynn doing stunts. |
Erin's turn. It's actually a tobaggoning (ski-doo) board. Totally worn out from tobaggoning, but great for the water. |
Watching the entertainment. |
Kelly-Lynn again. Pictures are not that clear because of the weather. |
Erin on her knees. |
Trying to warm up on Brian's lap. Still chatting from the excitement. |
Pork chops on the bbq. |
Next morning was a clear, warm, sunny day. |
Immy enjoying the heat from the morning sun. |
Beautifuly scenery and grandchildren. |
Marcel & Alida with our 3 grandchildren. Kelly-Lynn, Erin & Brenda. |
Teresa & Erin. |
Kelly-Lynn helping her uncle Brian with the worms! |
Fishing off the dock. |
I had never been in the lake, so decided it's now or never. |
Holding on the rope for dear life. I was in...but can't touch the bottom. Good pictures Brenda. |
Another adventure. To the end of the Lake for a hike. |
Uphill for 45 minutes. |
As soon as we arrived at the top, 3 cell phones popped out. Reception. Yah. |
In the distance are the Donald Lakes. Georgeous. |
And back we go to the boat... |
After a delicious lunch it was time to try out the speckled trout fishing at Buck Lake. And yet another boat ride. |
Buck Lake. Because of all the Hemlock trees, the lake is renamed Hemlock Lake. |
If you want to fish, you put on your own worms. Love the tongue Kelly-Lynn. But good job getting that worm on. |
Teresa caught the first trout. |
Doug enjoying the fishing. |
My first time fishing. Lucky the rod came with the worm attached. |
Brian caught 3 fish and Teresa 2. |
Marcel & Brian waiting for the boat to return. |
Our last morning, and another warm sunny day. |
Yikes. Glad I'm not on the receiving end of that blow! |
Our last breakfast before our trek home. Omelets. Doug did a fantastic job keeping our bellies filled. He did all the cooking, and we did dishes. Great deal. |
Erin getting water for the dishes. |
Next time "I'm bringing paper plates and plastic cutlery". |
Doug drove up ahead with the ATV and trailer with our bags and life jackets. A few life jackets and bags bounced off and Kelly-Lynn & Brenda picked them up on route. |
Brian was designated to take the first run across the lake. |
Arriving safely at the shore, Kelly-Lynn jumped out of the boat and pulled us in. |
Second trip across Camp Lake. |
Teresa going back for the rest of the stuff and people. |
Wow, amazing!!! Also glad you made it safe & sound!!! (scary with the boat!)
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the two of you with the grand kids-beautiful, but also made me giggle! It looks like you are all standing there with trees at the top of the sky behind you! LOL!
ReplyDeletesure does look like the trees are hanging from the sky. There's not a ripple in the water.
ReplyDeleteDe foto’s van de Hunting Cabin zijn gewoon om jaloers op te worden!! Wat fabelachtig mooi is het daar. En de herfstkleuren beginnen ook al door te dringen. Heel erg bedankt!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures of the hunting cabin are great. I dream of a place like that. Just to get in harmony with myself and nature.
ReplyDeleteLieve mensen nogmaals heel veel dank en gauw to bellens of e-mailing.
Liefs van Jan en Grietje.
Nice pictures...we own a cottage on Mackie Lake, near the northeast end. My wife and I were up the same week as you. And many, many moons ago, as a teenager I spent a few nights at the Reid Lake cottage (this would have been in the early 70's) in a sleeping bag on the floor. I haven't seen the inside of the cottage since then...thanks for bringing back memories.
