Sept. 19-22, 2011 Sandbanks with Ap, Rieneke & Nick

Second time in one year at the Sandbanks, this time with our dutch relatives.
Ap, Rieneke & their son Nick.
Unfortunately, Ap ended up in the hospital a few days after arriving in Canada, and was still there the day we went camping.  He had shortness of breath.  So Jennie drove up with Nick.

Nick ended up sleeping in our motor home instead of the 5th wheel with his parents as originally planned.

Peter & Immy were in charge of breakfast each morning, and I did suppers.
Immy & Jennie are making sure Peter does a good job.  He definitely did.

Nick looking for pebbles to throw in the water.

Dad & Brian enjoying the sunshine.
By the size of their coats, it looks like it's -20.

Our first morning there, we went to the Cedar Sands trail.

Nick feeding the seagulls.
Walking the beach to the end.  Takes about one hour.

We rec'd a phone call that Ap came home from the hospital the night before,
and that they would still come camping the next day.
Marcel and Peter went home in the morning to get the 5th wheel for them.
Henny, Ap & Rieneke arrived early afternoon. We were all  excited to see them.
The hosp.  gave Ap copies of all the tests they did here, and told him that he would have to see his doctor when he got back in Holland. (They are back in Holland now and just heard that he has pleurisy).  This can be a complication from rheumatism.  He had pneumonia just before coming to Canada.  Praying for a full recovery.

Hiding behind a dune, sheltering from the cold wind.

Campfires were held at Brian & Dad's site across the street.  Less windy.
Nick was designated out 'fire man'.  He did a great job.

Our breakfast before breakfast of koek & cookies.
Turned out to be a gorgeous warm day.
We did a long walk on the dunes in the morning.

Nick, Rieneke, Marcel & Jennie.

Found this little teepee, and Nick was willing to pose for a Kodak moment.

Herman & Amanda joined us in the afternoon, and we decided to finally try the new
 'Sandbanks Dunes Trail'.
Gentian flower.  Growing along the trail.

Jennie, Alida & Rieneke.

For our last meal at camp, we decided to do pie irons.
No one had made these before.  Lots of fun.
Nick, Amanda, Jennie & Herman.

Everyone makes their own.  (gave me a break)

After getting home, the ATV came out, and everyone got a ride in our back 40.

Nick & Marcel.

Better hang on tight Ap, Marcel has that look...

Rieneke's turn.  Chainsaw is going along.  Looks like they might not be back for a while.

Maybe Jennie is willing to help!
